Human Capital Institute Announces Launch of Agile Performance Management Course
First-of-its-kind Class to Teach HR Practitioners How They Can Reinvent Performance Management to Focus on Critical Outcomes
NEW YORK (August 11, 2015) – The Human Capital Institute (HCI), the global institution for strategic talent management, today announced the launch of its latest certification course, Agile Performance Management. The course is designed to help organizations transform performance management from an annual event into an ongoing cycle of regular feedback and continuous development.
The traditional performance review worked well for the primarily labor-based economy of a century ago, when performance could be measured accurately on work output or number of hours. However, in today’s new economy, where the majority of employees work in knowledge-related or service jobs, performance is driven by skills, attitude and the ability to innovate and collaborate – factors that must be developed over time. Relying on the inefficient, outdated numerical measures for gauging performance is no longer a sustainable approach and does little to continually enhance performance, driving the need for a new way to drive performance. As a result, today’s workers will receive the support they need to grow professionally and achieve their full potential, while employers benefit from greater alignment between organizational objectives and employee skills to improve overall performance.
HCI’s Agile Performance Management certification course addresses the realities of today’s business climate, in which an annual performance evaluation is no longer feasible or effective in driving performance. The course helps participants understand how to shift the focus from such annual evaluations and performance rankings into a continuous, collaborative, social and fast-moving process. Designed for HR practitioners, the course outlines how they can think about and conduct performance management in a new, more agile way that meets the needs of today’s employees, while accounting for the change management that will need to take place to ensure the approach is effective.
The course includes a wide range of modules covering the major aspects of how to create an agile approach to performance management, such as Reinventing Performance Management, The Performance Management Agility Scale, Agile Goal Setting, Coaching for Performance, Social Recognition, Roles in Performance Management Transformation and more. As a result, participants will leave the course with the information they need to implement immediate change in their organization’s performance management processes.
“Today’s employees prefer instant and ongoing feedback to help them continually grow and challenge themselves; as such, companies must move beyond the outdated annual performance review to deliver the insight that can lead to immediate improvement,” said Carl Rhodes, HCI’s chief executive officer. “If not, they will struggle to remain competitive and retain their best talent. We are pleased to offer our new Agile Performance Management certification course, which will provide HR practitioners with an intense overview of how they can transform performance management into an ongoing process that drives employee performance, increases productivity and satisfaction, and ultimately improves the bottom line.”
HCI’s two-day Agile Performance Management certification course is conducted in major metropolitan areas around the U.S. and is available as corporate training and online throughout the year.
