Washington, D.C. – March 4, 2010 – The Human Capital Institute (HCI)today announced a tremendous growth in certifications awarded for its Human Capital Strategist (HCS) course.   HCI is entering its sixth year as one of the fastest growing executive associations in the world, with over 175,000 members in 170 countries worldwide. In that time, the Human Capital Strategist (HCS) certification has been adopted by business and government organizations worldwide as the standard for Strategic Talent Management knowledge and expertise.

Originally launched in 2005, the current version of the Human Capital Strategist certification was introduced in late 2008 in response to changes in market and industry forces.  The importance of attaining this certification has increased significantly through 2009, as organizations struggle to compete in a market characterized by falling prices, accelerating product and disruptive change.

Talent is the only sustainable advantage in the changing global knowledge economy, and integrated talent management strategy and practices are now central to business results.  ‘As a growing number of administrative HR and related functions are being commoditized, outsourced and offshored, the necessity for professionals to demonstrate strategic capabilities and value to their organizations is increasingly essential,’ noted Bill Craib, VP of Education and the Center for Human Capital Excellence at HCI.

Strategic Human Capital and Talent Management span recruitment, HR, OD/Learning and specific Business Line Management. HCS graduates understand each practice across the talent lifecycle, and have the context to think strategically beyond the confines of their own traditional discipline.  Over two full days the HCS course offers a comprehensive review of the various "spokes of the talent wheel" in order for HCS designees to understand how each of the pieces work before fitting them together into a cohesive whole.
