Had a great conversation with HCI member senior practitioners and expert advisors over a virtual brown bag lunch discussion a few days ago about the impact of organizational ethics on morale and engagement. Intuitively we would be inclined to think these four outcomes (ethics, morale, engagement and empowerment) are so closely intertwined, would it be necessary to separate them, and "peel the onion" as it were? Maybe it is, if an ethical climate assessment result is less than favorable. And if exemplary leadership behaviors are important to inspiring engagement, morale and leading an ethical organization, what would these leadership behaviors be? All of these layers make for a good “ethics sandwich;” pile on the onions please, and post your comments and ideas to give our webcast presenter, Steve Priest, President of the Ethical Leadership Group, something to chew on and address in the June 8 webcast. And tell us how you handle "ethics without tears," by describing practices in your organization when you "peel the ethics onion."
