The most recent unemployment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics did not contain many causes for celebration. While the percentage of unemployed workers fell from 8.2% to 8.1%, there is evidence that this is mainly due to people leaving the workforce as retirees or because they have given up actively looking for work in the current job market. Organizations are clearly hesitant about bringing on new full-time workers when they are unsure if the economic growth necessary to justify the additional costs will continue.
