Manage Performance Through Timely Feedback: The Puppy TheoryAvailable to Executive Members

Webcast: February 9, 2010
When asked how she gives employee feedback, Carol Bartz (CEO of Yahoo) had this answer: "I have the puppy theory. When the puppy pees on the carpet, you say something right then because you don't say six months later, "Remember that day, January 12th, when you peed on the carpet?" That doesn't make any sense. "This is what's on my mind. This is quick feedback." And then I'm on to the next thing."

Especially important in this economic climate are the following questions: How does your organization manage feedback to employees? An annual review can be such a generalized view of a given employee's performance, with few concrete areas for improvement that relate back to specific areas of concern. How is your organization currently handling reviews? Does it seem outdated, or do both employees and leaders see meaningful gains following reviews? Join us for this webcast to examine how more regular communications and changes in process enable organizations to retain top performers, drive better performance and heal the grudges and grievances caused by the recession. more »

Performance Management: Processes and PracticesAvailable to Executive Members

Webcast: November 6, 2009
In August 2009, the Human Capital Institute and Workscape launched a research project to better understand how American organizations are approaching employee performance management. The research included a survey of the HCI membership, in which 690 respondents took part.

Despite the widespread conviction that performance management is an ongoing and continuous requirement, the majority of organizations appear to measure employee performance only annually (39%) or twice per year (29%). Only 11% of respondents reported that their organizations measure performance dynamically throughout the year.

Why are these results so disparate? What can be done-- if anything-- to improve performance management? Join us for this hour to review the research, examine the results, and gain a better understanding of how to improve on our own performance.

Employee Centric HR: What's It All About?Available to Executive Members

Webcast: November 5, 2008
Integrated Talent Management has been the subject of several HCI webcasts and white papers over the past several years yet, to date, we haven't explored the question of Total Rewards integration with a talent management platform that provides for visibility and the participation of the workforce. In August 2008, the Human Capital Institute conducted a survey of its membership to identify and better understand current market perceptions and emerging market needs surrounding the integration of Compensation & benefits and talent management solutions into a single, employee-centric solution offered on a single platform. The findings of the survey bring to light several key benefits of employee-centric talent management solutions. Join HCI's Executive Director, Allan Schweyer as we discuss the main findings of the research and the practical benefits of employee-centric HR. more »
