Raising Talent Management IQ With Proven Business Frameworks

    Webcast: December 1, 2009

An important factor that can make or break talent management systems is the motivation and capability of leaders outside of HR to understand and implement the systems. We know that the greater the motivation, the greater the understanding and ownership. Yet, many talent management systems are presented in a language that leaders neither own nor understand. HR concepts like competencies, succession levels, potential, fit and engagement are all valid, but they are not the typical concepts that leaders use to make business decisions. In this webinar, John Boudreau will show how proven business frameworks such as portfolio theory, customer analysis, inventory optimization and supply-chain management offer untapped ways to reveal the value in talent management to non-HR leaders, and to gain leader support for talent management initiatives." more »

Identify and Engage Your Pivotal Talent

    Webcast: August 4, 2009

Who constitutes your pivotal talent pool? Are you sure you know? Use the well known Disney example: Compare the employees who play the Disney characters at Disneyworld with the sweepers in the park. According to Disney, the role of the people playing the characters is fairly prescribed; there is limited scope for individual interpretation, and much of the variability is engineered out. However, with the park sweepers, a big part of their role is unrelated to sweeping -- they can identify when guests are having problems and improve the overall quality of the experience. The park sweepers, then, are a pivotal talent because their performance has a dramatic impact on guests. Can you identify your pivotal talent? Is it your C-level leaders, your high performing individuals, or another, perhaps overlooked, group?

This webcast will look at how we identify our talent and help us to overcome our myopic perceptions-- focusing on groups and people who are truly high impact to your customers, suppliers and the bottom line. more »
