He set the tone for his address by saying, "While I'm at Fort Knox, I know nothing about gold. But I know about people." more »

Day 3 at HCI's second Government Summit began with a lively speech by Richard Florida, author of The Great Reset and Professor of Creativity and Business at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management. Florida notes that we are undergoing "...the biggest change in economic history," in which we must move outdated industrial-era models of labor management toward what Peter Drucker called a Knowledge Economy. To do so, Florida believes we need to lead in ways that enable creativity to flourish for these knowledge workers. In fact, Florida believes, "The great challenge of our time is to get to that creativity that is born into each of us." more »

As an introduction, Barrientos spoke of IBM preparing to unveil its “2010 Global Chief Human Resource Officer Study.” This study was compiled using the interviews with over 700 HR executives for the study “Working Beyond Borders.” 50% of interviews came from executives in the public sector to get a range of perspectives. A few of the goals that were addressed were cultivating creative leaders, capitalizing on collaboration and using analytics to capture and grow leaders. more »
