Master Human Capital Strategist (MHCS) Designation

The MHCS Designation recognizes expertise in the principles and practical application of Strategic Talent Management. Practical Application, Real-World Impact

The MHCS Designation Program drives practical, real-world application of concepts explored in the Huamn Capital Strategist (HCS) certification process. It recognizes work that advances the state of the practice, while solving a real-world talent challenge within the candidate's organization. This is a valuable process for both organization and individual, and is a unique and transformational method for implementing new talent practices across the enterprise.

MHCS Course and Practicums

The MHCS program includes the preparatory Human Capital Plan course, and successful completion of a business case practicum. The HCI practicum methodology, which includes framing the business problem, developing an effective plan, executing successfully against it, and measuring outcomes, combine to demonstrate the candidate's grasp of key concepts and knowledge. At the same time, HCI practicums represent practical solutions that move the needle, and contribute real value to the candidate's organization.

Faculty Advisors

HCI faculty advisors are assigned to assist candidates throughout the process. The faculty advisor reviews the initial outline generated, discusses the criteria for an excellent practicum, and comments on drafts at varying stages. When the practicum is ready for submission, it is reviewed by HCI's senior faculty, who then award the designation. Candidates have one year to complete the designation process, though most accomplish it in two to four months.

MHCS Requirements

The MHCS designation is awarded on the basis of demonstrated strategic knowledge, and implementation experience.

Candidates for the MHCS Designation are required to:

  • Complete the Human Capital Strategist (HCS) pre-work and 2-day workshop
  • Pass the Human Capital Strategist (HCS) examination
  • Complete the one-day Human Capital Planning and Pre-Practicum Workshop
  • Identify, address, solve and measure a real-world talent problem
  • Prepare and pass a business case practicum documenting the process
