So, I think we’ve all been wondering – what makes SAS such a great place to work year over year?
Suzanne Gordon, CIO of SAS shared her view of what makes her organization such a special place to be. Firstly, “our customers just LOVE us…and our employees are just as important to us as our customers”.
So what does SAS do? SAS provides market-leading business analytics software and services to help customers make fact-based decisions to improve performance – this includes anything from identifying the right product to market all the way through to forecasting trends.
The list of perks that SAS offers to their employees is amazing – up there with facebook, google, and the other leaders. Another reason why they topped the list for great places to work I’m sure.
Check out what SAS’ers get:
- On-site child care
- On -site recreation and fitness center
- On- site health care
- Work-life career center
- On-site cafes
- On-site dry cleaning pickup
- On-site massage therapy
- On-site shipping center
- On-site car detailing
- On-site hair salon
- On-site art and scenic operations
SAS invests in the community and has many important corporate social responsibility initiatives – particularly of interest to me today, as it is International Women’s Day – is their work around encouraging women to “Study STEM” – check out this great video:
Finally, SAS has a ridiculously low turnover rate – people just love to be a part of this organization! Their turnover rate is at 4%, while the industry average is about 20%. Suzanne mentioned that there are some people who have started as landscapers and have grown into engineers or leaders in operations! They simply don’t let their true talent go!

Was a great summit enjoyed my time there and the people.
SAS is a great place to work! However I didn't say loads of people have moved from landscaping to development or operations but just a couple of examples to show it is possible.
