Webcast:
Millenials, the Internet Generation, Generation Y: all refer to people born between 1978 and 2000. Much has been made about the privilege of this generation and their rearing, from their access to and (over?) use of technology, to their supposed political apathy, and their ever-present "helicopter" parents. As they enter the workforce, still more assumptions are made about work ethic, interpersonal skills and job loyalty.
The reality of the knowledge and attitudes of any generation is conjecture without evidence and placing too much faith in generalities is dangerous business. But potential employers need access to accurate information about their future workforce to market their career opportunities appropriately and gain bright talent. What does appeal to these candidates? What attributes can hiring authorities reasonably postulate they possess? How can talent acquisition specialists adapt their on-campus and virtual recruiting to appeal to our future leaders? Those central issues about employment branding for college students are the focus of this webcast.
