In a 2010 report from HCI, researchers found that more than 50% of respondents plan to move their organization towards a more integrated talent management model, including Contract Talent, within the next 3-5 years. This abandonment in thinking of contract talent as ‘assets’ prompted the Human Capital Institute to further investigate how deeply into the layers of human capital programs organizations are planning to integrate this rapidly-growing workforce.
The results were very intriguing. Elizabeth Mashakas has 25 years of experience in the field of recruiting within world-class organizations and is currently the Director of Recruiting at Orbital Sciences Corporation. In a variety of industries to include aerospace & defense, professional services, not for profit and telecommunications, she has successfully developed recruiting/staffing infrastructures that supported growth, profitability, and critical business objectives. Elizabeth, throughout her career, has developed expertise within the areas of strategic realignment, talent acquisition, talent management/development, retention, employer branding and contingent workforce strategies and programs. These areas of expertise have been utilized in achieving major cost savings and improved recruitment organizational efficiencies through reengineering and restructuring. Elizabeth earned her B.A. degree, cum laude, from the University of Maryland in Communications. She is involved in many professional affiliations including but not limited to the National Association of Professional Women, the International Association of Corporate and Professional Recruiters and the Talent Acquisition Leadership Council.

As the Practice Leader for Talent Strategy and Acquisition at the Human Capital Institute, Amy oversees the high-quality programming offered in the Center for Human Capital Excellence, in-person events and conferences, executive workgroups and signature research.As the business leader for these areas, she has direct insight into the needs of clients, whether they are thought-leading underwriters or game-changing human capital management professionals, in the form of members of the Human Capital Institute.Prior to her current role, Amy was the Director and Community Leader of the Talent Acquisition Community at HCI.
Before joining the Human Capital Institute, she served in corporate recruiting roles at several large financial services companies, and had the opportunity to focus on recruitment-related technology, processes and best practices. She is also fierce advocate for talent as the pinnacle competitive advantage in the global marketplace, and currently holds the Human Capital Strategist designation (HCS).
