Jeffrey Barnes, Leader of the Crotonville Corporate Campus at GE, shares the story behind the restructuring of the John F. Welch Leadership Development Center, commonly known as Crotonville.
Barnes shares that:
- As business becomes more global, leadership development at GE needs to adapt to fit the demands of the 21st century.
- Through walking the campus through the students’ perspective, it was evident that there was not enough right brain thinking- and not enough experiential learning.
- By reimagining the process, the campus had to be re-imagined as well- lecture halls of the past which were built around “talking at people” would be replaced with open concept space that catered to collaboration and teamwork.
