Amy Hirsh Robinson lays the foundation for new economy succession planning using three cornerstones for success. First it is important that succession planning is kept as simple as possible. Over complication can lead to paralysis by analysis. Secondly she advises that the overall goal of succession planning is to keep talent in the internal pipeline. Succession planning should not be a euphemism for replacement planning. Finally it is discussed that succession planning should extend beyond the executive and director levels of an organization.
