According to Disney, the role of the people playing the characters is fairly prescribed; there is limited scope for individual interpretation, and much of the variability is engineered out. However, with the park sweepers, a big part of their role is unrelated to sweeping -- they can identify when guests are having problems and improve the overall quality of the experience. The park sweepers, then, are a pivotal talent because their performance has a dramatic impact on guests. Can you identify your pivotal talent? Jeff Summer is an independent consultant with significant, hands-on experience with the alignment of talent management solutions and HR infrastructure with business objectives.Previously, Jeff served as a Partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers' People & Change practice based in Manhattan. While at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Jeff built and implemented the U.S. Firm's Talent Management practice.Prior to joining PricewaterhouseCoopers, Jeff served as a Partner at Deloitte based in Manhattan. During his thirteen year tenure at Deloitte, Jeff built and implemented the U.S. Financial Services-Human Capital and Global Talent Management practices. While at Deloitte, Jeff completed a two-year secondment as the firm's U.S. HR Leader and a prior two-year secondment as Chief of Staff to Deloitte's current global CEO.Prior to joining Deloitte, Mr. Summer led the HR organization for a west coast healthcare organization.Jeff's areas of expertise span the development of talent management solutions and the redesign of HR organizations including core programs and related process, service delivery, structure, technology and HR performance metrics. Jeff has deep expertise in HR metrics including the implementation of performance indicators, measurement and management reporting systems.
