Lack of Skills Is a Serious Problem for Companies

The skills gap is indeed preventing employers from finding the talent they need. ManpowerGroup’s 2012 Talent Shortage shows that about half of U.S. employers are experiencing difficulty filling crucial positions and 40 percent say a major reason is that candidates lack essential skills, particularly in professional positions and skilled trades. (Although more than half the respondents acknowledged that inadequate pay makes it difficult to land candidates.)
