Dr. Monica A. Hemingway is Sr. Director of Selection and Assessment at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., where she is building a new selection practice that will develop and implement assessments throughout the organization. She has extensive experience in the areas of job analysis, test development, validation, and implementation. She is an authority on global selection practices and has developed selection systems for many different job families and positions in a wide variety of countries.Before joining Starwood, Dr. Hemingway was Sr. Director of Selection / Managing Consultant at Valtera, focusing primarily on selection system development for clients in a wide range of industries. Prior to that, she was Global Design Leader for Staffing and Selection at The Dow Chemical Company where she led the design and implementation of all assessment and screening tools (e.g., internet prescreening, biodata instruments, cognitive ability measures, work samples, structured interviews, performance appraisals) for selection and evaluation of professional, administrative and technical employees in over 30 countries. Other experience includes roles as Sr. Consultant and Manager of Test Development and Research at The Chauncey Group International; extensive job analysis, biodata development and validation work in Global Recruiting, Training & Development at Procter & Gamble; and individual assessment of applicants for production positions as a Field Representative with HRStrategies. Dr. Hemingway also has prior consulting experience with clients in a variety of industries, such as the manufacturing, medical, legal, and financial industries.Dr. Hemingway received her Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Bowling Green State University. She has published in the areas of job analysis, selection system design, and occupational stress, is a reviewer for the Journal of Applied Psychology, serves on several professional committees, and is a frequent speaker at conferences and invited presentations. She is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt with experience in both design and process improvement. She is a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Ken Lahti completed his Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at Colorado State University and has worked in the field of assessment and selection for over a decade. As Vice President of Product Development and Innovation, Ken merges commercial strategy with scientific innovation and oversees research and development of SHL’s industry-leading assessment products. Ken is a noted speaker in his profession, presenting at conferences and webcasts hosted by organizations such as Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Talent Management Magazine, Human Capital Institute, SHRM, and HR.com.
