Interviewing via video and the internet is such a hot trend right now. The right system is cheap compared to in-person interviews when travel is involved. Even when you’re not having to fly candidates in from around the globe, video interviewing ensures a consistent interview every time and removes the worry of those risky hiring manager interviews. (You know, the ones where you’re never sure what the business leader will actually ask?)
Melissa Mounce, Senior Vice President of Talent Acquisition at PNC Financial Services is dishing on this topic at HCI’s Strategic Talent Acquisition Conference on June 29th. Her team supports all lines of business for the enterprise and consists of approximately 200 recruiters and sourcers. Connect with her online or at the conference.

I was interested in your first piece on Video Interviewing. Once recruiters ourselves, we developed a tool to make interviewing candidates easier on ourselves.
I'm really hoping it is more than a trend. Video-Interviewing, especially when you remove the hassle of it from the hiring manager's hands by allowing a candidate to interview themselves, is a no-brainer. The process saves time, money, and candidate's videos can be compared to one another. Much more revealing than phone screens. We too are in the video-interviewing mix. You summed up the advantages very well.
Agreed, this space is totally hot right now. I'm part of the team behind ActiveInterview.com and everyday we're meeting (or being approached by) new clients that are ready to make video interviewing as part of their initial screening and hiring process. A bigger player in this space also recently just raised 5 million in series B financing, so it's clearly getting a lot of attention from investors as well. Undoubtedly the next step will be executing on different technology platforms, like mobile!
Much to dish about! Video Technology is rapidly being accepted in the applicant screening process, but NOW comes the good part: incorporating video with all other assets about a candidate on one screen in one place as the new Total Candidate Profile, as in InterviewStudio.
Not only do we save airline tickets and 9-to-5 team interview time, but NOW technology can merge all that candidate data into a true Decision Support System that is mindful of "interview training" and "EEO compliance" and "legal defensibility" and all sorts of side benefits to the organization!
See examples of Version 1.0 of InterviewStudio's Total Candidate Profile which is defining the video interview template of the future.
