The HR function in many companies is not able to perform at the level needed. And in those organizations, their Boards and CEOs do not recognize it.
Because we live in a world where organizations and markets are more complex and diverse than ever before – the importance of talent greater, and the technologies newer – HR functions must evolve.
While the world is racing onward, the role of HR has remained, in many ways, the same. Most lay the problem at the foot of HR. I place it directly on Boards and their CEOs. Boards and CEOs need to challenge their expectations of their HR organizations, leaders and teams. And as they do that, I suspect they will determine a revolution, not an evolution, is necessary.
