Leading companies have used the 70-20-10 developmental model, based on work done in
the 1980s by the Center for Creative Leadership, for years. It has proved useful and has led to many valuable insights. But this model was developed when access to information was limited; the Internet was a drawing on a white board; Google was not yet a verb, and social learning was the people you talked to in class.
A new look is required that builds on the 70-20-10 framework, but ensures that it is relevant in today’s world with the access, reach, tools and leverage that could not have been even imagined 30 years ago.
