My career started in the agency arena as a staffing representative with Manpower in the Baltimore area and then on to IT staffing. The rest of my 15+ year career has been in-house recruiting for a variety of firms and industries with an expertise in recruitment process creation, improvement and implementation, recruitment technology evaluation and integration, strategy development and execution, leading teams and over the last 18 months developing the social recruitment presence for Time Warner Cable.The majority of my career has been a "player/coach" role where I carried a full requisition load and managed teams ranging from two to seventeen. Over the last two years I have moved more into pure strategy but I still wear the recruiting hat for executive searches.I believe that a recruiter can provide value to any organization as long as they deliver excellent customer service by listening to the client and when necessary push back; leaving no stone unturned when sourcing candidates but have a methodical approach; look for the most cost effective and efficient recruitment solutions but don't resist the latest or trendy - research them; treat candidates how you want to be treated but don't allow them to control the relationship; lastly, you are as only good as your last hire so don't rely on your past performance but continue to strive for improvement and seek feedback.
