Another Monday, another digest of things I hope you'll add to your talent strategy reading log for the week. But before we do that-- I'd love for all you social media gurus to look for me on Twitter...I have a new account dedicated to all things talent strategy @cmabbatiello. Let me know your alias so I can follow you, too.
So without further ado...here are the things on my reading docket that I hope you'll find interesting as well...
The Wall Street Journal discusses ways to keep key employees happy "Many employers and employees don't see eye to eye on what keeps workers happy, a disparity that could spell trouble for businesses as the economy recovers.
Employers consider management climate and workers' relationships with their bosses as most important, but employees cite pay and benefits, according to a survey last winter by Spherion Corp., a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., staffing firm. Respondents included 306 human-resources managers and 2,519 employees at firms of all sizes. Surveys conducted in 2007 and 2005 generated the same top results."
Accenture has a new series on "Strategies for Achieving High Performance in a Multi-Polar World...a playbook of options drawn from the experiences of high-performance businesses from around the globe, including emerging-market multinationals. It sets out the practices and management ideas that may help businesses withstand short-term pressures generated by the current economic crisis, while laying the groundwork for growth in the upturn."
And Manage Smarter has a list of the Top 10 Survival Tips for Virtual Teams..."You can't walk down the hall or into the next cubicle to discuss a problem if some people are in New York and others are in Santa Cruz, CA, or even Bangladore, India. As a result, without critical skill-sets, virtual teams will fail to fully engage team members, establish clear goals and standards, and establish the processes necessary to get things done."
Have a great start to the week...and hope to see many of you at our upcoming webcasts on all things human capital.
