Janet Murphy is the Chief Human Capital Officer (CHCO) at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA). In her current capacity, Janet oversees merit and DEU staffing, classification, position management, awards program, performance management, personnel security, employee development, compensation, comparability, employee relations, federal and non-federal benefits, payroll and processing. Janet started her career at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Human Resources, as an Employee Relations Specialist. In this position she handled all aspects of employee discipline, arbitrations and agreements, death in service, retirements, workers' compensation cases and other benefit issues as one of two Benefits Specialists serving approximately 3,500 employees. Janet also served as an Administrative Officer for the Assistant Secretary for Finance and Administration, where she handled all personnel matters and the budget for the Office and subordinate offices of Finance, IT, and Budget.
Janet moved into the budget arena and became a Budget Director within the VA's Office of Budget. In this position she oversaw a $200 million budget with twelve accounts. Janet also worked as an Administrative Officer for the Department of Agriculture, at the U.S. Embassy in Rome, Italy, where she managed the day-to-day coordination of international meetings, travel, budget, and agency personnel throughout the world. Janet holds a BS in Management, from the University of Maryland.
