We had eight wonderful volunteers/ambassadors at Selamta this July. I want to thank them for sharing their time, talents, and love with the children, mothers, & staff at Selamta. We look forward to their return.
Quotes from July volunteers:
"The work that Selamta does is truly amazing! These kids are given such an opportunity and they are always grateful for it! They have such a loving and open culture and are not afraid to put themselves out there to learn more! They are willing to love you for who you are and not who you should be!! It is truly wonderful to see the kids work with each other and take care of one another."
"I truly enjoyed my experience at Selamta. I would first like to thank the Selamta Family Project for allowing me to volunteer this summer. I got great satisfaction out of volunteering this summer and the children learned a lot. We taught the children basic first aid, CPR, puberty, and sexual education. After we taught all of our classes the kids told us they truly appreciated us teaching them this material in that they have never learned this kind of stuff. This past summer I not only had a life changing experience but we have changed the lives of the children. I have made some live long friends this summer that I will never forget about. I have made an impact on the children's lives and the children have made an impact on mine. I love the children of Selamta and will be back to visit soon. Thank you Selamta!!"
"My time at Selamta was a beautiful and moving experience. The children taught me something invaluable every day I was there, and saying goodbye to them was one of the hardest emotional tasks I have ever had to perform. The children in the Selamta program are some of the most caring and loving individuals I have ever met. The fact that these children are able to show unconditional compassion for one another, while very few of them are blood related is a perfect illustration of what utterly wonderful change the Selamta program has brought to all of these kids lives."
Here is a taste of what the volunteers did during their time at Selamta:
