Dr. Kathryn J. Coleman has over 20 years of experience in talent acquisition, diversity, strategy, policy, and project management. As VP of Talent Planning, Acquisition and Assessment, Dr. Coleman leads talent focused areas including 3M’s talent acquisition organization, succession planning, talent planning and assessments globally, in addition to key talent processes like performance review process, High Potential designation, talent reviews. Her previous 3M roles include, Director, Strategy and culture, Global HR PMO leader and Master Black Belt, Global Leader, Virtual Experience, Technology & Employee Development, Global Leader, Talent Acquisition and Onboarding, Global Talent Acquisition Strategy Manager and US Talent Acquisition Operations Manager
Prior to joining 3M, Dr. Coleman held several leadership roles in the public and private sector including Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition at SUPERVALU, Director of Diversity Initiatives at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota and Director of Admission for Recruiting at William Mitchell College of Law.
Dr. Coleman earned her Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota, a M.A. in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology from the University of Minnesota, and a B.A. in Psychology from Macalester College. She has served on several local and national boards including Conference Board, Career Development Practitioners Council, National Black MBA Association, and National Association for Hispanic MBA’s and Consortium for Graduate Studies. In 2015, Dr. Coleman received the Peter C. Thorpe Leadership Award, recognizing her leadership as a corporate champion of ethnic diversity. She also served on the board of the YWCA Minneapolis; whose mission is to eliminate racism, empower women and girls, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
