Bob Motion is the Director of Workforce Planning & Strategy for Intelligence, Information & Services, a business within Raytheon Company  Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN), with 2015 sales of $23 billion, is a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, homeland security and other government markets throughout the world.

In this position, Motion is responsible for the IIS’s operational and strategic workforce planning processes, ensuring that the business has an aligned understanding of its workforce needs and that it has strategies in place to meet those needs and minimize workforce risk.  Prior to this role, Motion established and led the Workforce Intelligence function, a Center of Excellence in Corporate Human Resources, a specialty function that provided predictive analytics in strategic workforce planning, competitive intelligence, compliance analytics, employee survey analytics, and integrated HR Analytics.

Bob has long been recognized for his leadership in Workforce Planning.  He is an Executive Board member of the Conference Board’s Strategic Workforce Planning Council, and he currently chairs the Aerospace Industries Association’s Workforce Analytics Working Group to advocate for national interests in STEM education and analytics.  He has been published as part of the 2012 book Positioned (Tripp/Maki), and he was recognized as i4cp’s Member of the Year in 2012.

Motion holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with Special Honors and majors in Plan II, Government, and History.  He also holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.  He resides in Allen, Texas with his wife and two sons.
