Ron Lawrence is the Vice President of Organization Development & HR Corporate Services for VF Corporation, a FORTUNE 350 organization of 48,000 employees based in 46 countries – one of the world’s largest apparel companies, with annual revenues approaching $10 billion. VF’s portfolio of over 50 brands includes Wrangler & Lee jeans & denim wear, The North Face and Timberland outdoor apparel and footwear, Nautica sportswear, JanSport & Eastpak packs, Vans footwear, Seven For All Mankind premium denim wear, John Varvatos fashion wear for men, Reef swimwear and sandals, Red Kap and Bulwark workwear, Majestic athletic apparel, and many more. Ron joined VF in early 2006, and his responsibilities for VF encompass the identification, acquisition and development of executive and leadership talent across the enterprise. Performance management, succession planning, executive readiness, competency models, VF Diversity, corporate culture, HR Information Systems, HR Analysis, and a host of other related leadership topics are needs looked after by Ron and his staff.
Ron’s career includes work in both line operations and HR roles for AT&T Communications, multiple healthcare companies including Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, & Capital One Financial Services. While Ron was leading its training function, Capital One twice received national recognition from TRAINING Magazine by being named the 2001 “Best Training & Development Organization” and then placing number two in the 2002 poll. His career encompasses both HR generalist and specialist responsibilities. In January 2007, Ron was featured as the cover story profile for CLO Magazine, and he was profiled again in the UK Training Journal in June, 2011.
Ron is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, with a Bachelor’s degree in the Communication Arts. Ron is also a graduate of Xavier University of Ohio, with a Masters in Human Resources with a focus on Organization Development. A graduate of HR and OD advanced certification programs at schools like Columbia University and Georgetown University, Ron is presently a doctoral candidate at the Fielding Graduate Institute where he is finishing his PhD in Human and Organizational Systems. The author of numerous articles on high-performance organizations and a frequent conference speaker and university lecturer, Ron is also an avid fitness enthusiast with hobbies in music and the arts, and a passion for riding his motorcycle. Ron has been a Board member for the Greensboro Salvation Army and its Boys and Girls Clubs, and currently serves as a member of Opportunity Greensboro, an education partnership between Greensboro’s seven universities and colleges and the business community. He lives in Greensboro, North Carolina, with his wife Kimberly, their children Arielle, Carmen and Adam, and their dogs Smokey, Boo Radley, and Lady Rorschach.
